No, but neither could she without his. This is the primary, the overwhelming majority of people who voted in the primary will vote for the Dem nominee. To be sure we need to do some healing, and the first part of the summer is going to be a depressing time for the Dems as there will be all sorts of hand-wringing and idle threats, June and August should be good and Sept and Oct will be fighting for the middle GE voters, which I think a united Dem party can win this year, McCain is just too vulnerable on so many fronts. The whole "losing his bearings" will be the mildest of digs against McCain implying he is unfit to lead compared to all the 527s and who knows what hammering the point home (for heaven sakes he campaigns with his mother to prove he will be long lived, how messed up is that?). And if McCain picks even a slightly controversial VP running mate they will get raked over the coals at the more likely than normal replacement for the prez in case he dies.  It is not pretty, but in addition to policy issues McCain will be seen a medically vulnerable. And just one public blow-up, or calling his wife a cunt will tank him even further.

(Incidentally, I'd like someone to ask his mom about McCain ditching his first wife)

I am from MN and if you think our caucuses are undemocratic I have a lake to introduce you to.
