    two things:

    1. There was a discussion in today's Dkos gardening diary about how to post two pics side by side, which lead to some other HTML magic and somebody (Eddie C?) posted some past efforts of diarists to use the view source codes as a template. One of the examples from rserven used both colors and colored text. It was all way over my head but it sounded like some of the things you wanted to use. Here's a link to the diary...

or search the diary list for the garden diary posted at 9am this morning.

    1. Does anybody know if the puzzle diary is set for tomorrow? Is Julie going to be back from her trip? I have a puzzle diary on hand for emergencies if need be. Not very difficult but I did concoct some catch phrase puzzles too that are a scream because I really don't know what I'm doing :) I thought it was strange that there was a week with no puzzle diary at all but I hadn't heard from Julie and I would be reluctant to post one without knowing her intentions or if she had pre-arranged for someone else to do it.

I e-mailed Julie earlier today to check on whether she'd like someone to fill in tomorrow, and she said that would be nice.  I've got several on hand and told her I'd do it, but if you'd be interested in filling in tomorrow that's even better as that would let me have a turn on the solver side of the table.  So if you'd like the gig, it's yours!

Meanwhile, thanks for the link to the gardening thread.  I have it loading in another window right now correct that, had it loading, but not only was it taking a long time but it froze up Firefox twice now (losing this post in the process once), so I've stopped attempting to load it until after I get this reply posted, then will try again in a way that won't hang things up.)

I wasn't sure you would return to the diary and see my new comment.

Okay, as soon as you tip this comment, it's official. I'll do the puzzle diary tomorrow which is good for me because my poor brain still hurts from this past week. I think the 17 brain cells I still have left need more time to recharge. Hosting will be easier than solving. I'll shoot for posting between 8 and 10.

The gardening diary is often hard to load because there are so many pictures. It aborts and I try again. If you do get it loaded the pertinent discussiom starts immediately after the comment with two pics side by side. Here's (I hope) a link to the specific comment containing the graphics, although you may need to read the preceding comments if you don't grasp how to view the source codes. I sure don't yet.

these puzzle threads compulsively for any new comments!

(I discovered what the Hotlist thingie does a short while back, and have begun using that too -- both to find diaries from people who seem to have good track records, and to see if anything I've written has gotten any replies.  But the Hotlist list of replies seems to forget to inform me about replies to this thread about as often as it remembers, so now I bookmark the Sunday puzzle in my bookmarks toolbar and click on it peridodically if I'm on-line.)

Glad you'll be doing the puzzle tomorrow, and am eagerly looking forward to the fun!

PS: found the comment, managed to click the right button for viewing source code, and am in the process of trying to understand what it says. Many thanks!
