never particpated directly in the fighting.  He was in the air force and he was fixing the spy planes.  Now he  has a hard time with his conscience about having to partipate in an illegal war.

      •  I think your husband knows that (4+ / 0-)

he followed his orders, and they were lawful orders.
What was unlawful was the conduct of the Bush administration and their cherry picking of the intelligence.

One of the reasons that I'm running is so that I can prevent another unlawful war, that I can be the person asking the tough military questions so that your husband and others aren't put in that position again.

All my best to him. - Doug

        •  Civilian leadership of the military is paramount (0+ / 0-)

We should hold our civilian leaders accountable for their errors in judgment when going to war.

Our military deserves nothing but commendation for following their lawful orders.  A military that exercises "independent judgment" is more of a threat to democracy than even a stupid war like Bush's.

(Sorry, just throwing my opinion in here.)

WARNING: There is a high probability that the preceding comment is snark. Use your best judgment (hopefully better than Sen. Clinton's or Sen. McCain's).
