    I responded to a part of your diary.  I've had the same problem when I wrote substantive diaries, they rarely get the full reading they deserve.

    However there is the metaphor of earth as living organism, perhaps not yours, that is a part of academic intellectual discussion.  

    I will try to give your diary a more careful read, and perhaps have an additional comment.

      because they never have worked at an unambiguous definition of organism.  That's why I worked hard to ground this discussion on Rosen's.  We have put a lot of effort into getting rid of the other, ill posed definitions.  They lead to endless  and meaningless debate.  We are part of that same debate, but sometimes academics are prone to not let go of pet ideas.  That's especially true if it means admitting that they were chasing their own tails.  Even Sagan ignored our work and the stuff he uses is probably the same stuff you refer to.  That's why this diary is here.  To go beyond that point.

      An idea is not responsible for who is carrying it. It stands or falls on its own merits.
