  •  I was speaking from my SOTU listening experience. (0+ / 0-)

I always felt that Gore paled in his speaking compared to Bubba.

    •  When did Gore give a SOTU? (0+ / 0-)

Bubba used to be a very effective communicator in normal public speaking (i.e. non-speech kind) but Gore wasn't bad at all. OTOH, Gore's speeches are generally more powerful and oratorical than Bubba's, I think. Obama, of course, shines in the oratory aspect; one of the best we've ever seen.

      •  Ok I was talking about the SOTU response speech (0+ / 0-)

        given by KS.
        Sorry not Gore's speechifying.
But yes Gore got much better after he left office IMO.

The speech writers for the SOTU address gave her a lousy speech - they did the same for Tim Kaine.  Jim Webb, threw it out what he was given and wrote his own, which is why it was so powerful.

When you see Tim Kaine in person, he's just great - doesn't matter whether the venue is large or small, he can really connect with people.  I've not seen a lot of Governor Sebelius' work, but I would imagine she was at least as good as Governor Kaine, or she wouldn't have so many people who can't say enough good about her.

        •  OK. I am now thinking that it'll be Sebelius, (1+ / 0-)

          almost certainly.

There are several compelling reasons, but here is something that I just came across: Sebelius was born in OH!
(and Obama is only 1-3% behind in OH and so she might be able to put him over the top in OH and perhaps in the somewhat similar PA as well).

and I'd hardly rate Bill as spectacular.

Now, I did think it was always hilarious how he'd drag out his SOTU so long that nobody in the country could bear to stay tuned for the Republican rebuttals.

      Every single time.
