    I actually think it's good to have more dispersed power and the possibility of experimentation within the states. Some of that diversity has not been pretty, but much has been.

    And on the other end, this is such a huge powerful country, I am glad that that states can put a break on that power.

      although with President Obama, we'll see the liberal project of centralization back in the drivers seat.  I think it'd be great if the Bush administration taught the virtues of federalism and incrementalism to a new generation of (D)s, but those kinds of procedural positions rarely take.

      People will be screeching "Think of the children!  We have to preempt!" come January '09.
