My son went to state History Day finals, with the notion that Edison was more of an astute businessman than inventor.

Tesla is his hero now, not Edison.

Oy, what's a Dem to do?

which is pretty good. He invented the phonograph, which is even better. He invented a practical light bulb, which is great, and the stock ticker, which is nice...Edison was heavily involved with the creation of every invention he is credited with.

his creative work was mostly on paper doing designs and most of the hard labor building the prototypes went to his assistants. Even the movie starring Spencer Tracy admits to this.

That Alexander Graham Bell tried to steal the airplane from the Wright Brothers is also a documented fact (the telephone is another question I don't want to get into right now).

Tesla was ill-used by pretty much everyone he was involved with, but Edison was the real deal.
