    Jimmy Carter 1977 - 1981.

Presidents don't save LGBT citizens from being second class.

HR 676 or California's SB-840 - the only health reform proposals worth my vote.

... did a lot to advance the cause of LGBT rights in those days.

A liberal is a conservative who's been hugged.

Midge Costanza made a difference, thank your Jimmy Carter. And look at the list on the right side of the page...I am proud to boast that I either know or have met all but two of those Americans leaders.

We really did make great strides.

Then, without Congressional declaration, the Right Wing declared a Culture War against us and a virus thinned our ranks and set us back. The war is over, the viral infection is now a chronic manageable disease instead of a fatal one. And the RW gets smaller and smaller every year.

    •  First openly gay Cabinet member (0+ / 0-)

was a HUD official, I believe, appointed by Clinton.

The RNC is in no hurry to do anything respectful of the gay community beyond guaranteeing to not have conversion therapy a plank in their platform. Unless and until that changes, the Democrats will be our only hope.
