      For drama, anyway. The weasel Johnson repeated "I had routine conversations with the executive branch", or, like a wiseguy, "I been many places, I ain't saying where." However, he easily denied the VP had anything to do with the ozone ruling. Thus, put 2 and 2 together, YES THE PRESIDENT OVERRULED HIM! Some members almost made that allegation. I'd love to see one of them just say "the record will reflect that the witness, EPA administrator Johnson, did, in fact, meet with President Bush prior to changing his mind on the California Clear Air Act waiver."

      A press report alerted me to watch the replay, wherein Waxman was about to physically throttle Darrell Issa for interrupting, and the shot of Henry slamming the gavel is one for the ages.
