is not only necessary, but appropriate.

But for some reason, you want us to ignore it.

Funny, I don't recall you feeling that way earlier:

Does Bush actually think he is Christ?
Or do his minions simply manipulate fundamentalist voters with messianic themes?

Either way, this should be a huge campaign issue. I wish we had the power to make it one.

Well, we now have a candidate who is endorsing and seeking the approval of a preacher who manipulates voters with messianic themes. That should be a huge campaign issue, and yet now you want us to walk away from it.

    Quite a disconnect.

Is it because you agree with Rev. Hagee's theology and find it admirable that he endorses McCain?

    •  The disconnect is that McCain is far different . (0+ / 0-)

from Bush. McCain clearly doesn't share Hagee's beliefs. It is a marriage of convenience. My earlier diary (boy is that old! That's from when?) was about rhetoric marshaled by the Bush campaign itself. You won't see McCain doing that. I doubt he's really comfortable with the Christian right. And if it doesn't come naturally, I think they can see right through it.

and as Troutfishing has documented, the alliance is profound; and has lasted for years. Its a professional mutual admiration society.

Your faith in McCain, is misplaced. And your relentless pooh poohing of others well founded concerns about all this are, well... words escape me.

      •  Completely agree with you on that one. (3+ / 0-)

I also don't believe most Republicans, including and perhaps most of all McCain, don't believe at all the Hagee apocalyptic Bible Prophecy nuttery.
Yet, he did practically bend over backwards begging for Hagee's endorsement. So what does that tell us about McCain, cynic or hypocrite, or both? Given this, it's more than politically appropriate to highlight his connections with Hagee.

We're shocked by a naked nipple, but not by naked aggression.

        Oh yeah?

Just what does McCain really believe?
and what does Hagee really believe?

You tell me. mcCain's my senator and I watch him closely.
And I have no clue.   And maybe Hagee and McCain do believe the same thing. Maybe they both believe in power and money, and they both know the best way to get those things is to scare people? Who the hell knows?

In fact, it's really not just belief we are talking about - because none of us can look into that person's soul and say what a person believes.  What we are talking about is really the dangerous actions that promoting beliefs like Hagee's can bring about in the Middle East.

We can look at what they espouse and say.
We can look at what they do.
We can look at who they associate with.
We can look at who they give money, and who gives money to them.

By all these external measures John McCain is now Hagee's good ol buddy. And if dear ol' straight talkin' McCain does not in his heart of hearts accept the political endorsement of Hagee, then he should fess up to that.

Using the Christian Right's rhetoric as a politician is wrong.

Getting the wingnut preacher endorsement, not so much. Even when that wingnut preacher says America will die for its sins and the Jews will convert or die in the Apocalypse.

And you're okay with McCain's hypocrisy, apparently.

(boy is that old! That's from when?)

        Isn't that precious.

BTW, you still haven't answered my question about how you feel about Hagee's theology.
