  •  What the fuck (4.00)
does Rural America have to do with it?
    •  Well as a Rural-American (4.00)
my delicate rural sensibilities were offended.  I was "overwhelmed" by the number of complicated things in this post which, for reasons obvious, made me think beyond the capacities of my simple rural mind.

People in rural America can, and often do, think like people in glamorous "urban" America.  Jesus

      •  That's how I feel (none)
when people say stuff about us "stupid New Mexicans".

Personally, I love rural America, dammit.

      •  While funny . . (4.00)
While funny, there's probably a nicer way to point out that this poster was (probably unintentionally) equating "rural americans" with those who don't appreciate the gratuitous use of "fuck" in discourse.

Personally, I don't mind despite/because of? growing up in rural America.

But blasting that point (not explicitly) you've probably further alienated this person -- which may/or may not have been your intention.

The core point -- can we express that anger w/o the vulgarity is debatable.  The ancillary/unintended point (rural americans are more likely prone to shun vulgarity) is not one we proabably ought to debate but seems to have been the easier mark and hence the target of the responses.

And the ratings for the respective posts?  C'mon.  A bit of discretion for troll rating posts that clearly aren't "troll."  I uprated that post so it wouldn't disappear.

        •  I have been saying for weeks... (none)
There is no language to express how much damage chimp has done without swearing. Polite language just does not cover the scope of the situation.

I hasve used similar language, in my posts, but always either with an eye toward crossing theline,or else just being so DAMN angry, and frustrated I don't care any more.

The passion of this thread in particular is very heartning.  There just is not room or ytime for reasoned debate.  The other side has already shown that reason is meaningless to them, and we need to push back.

So FUCK YES, the swearing is justified until we win.  We had better be ready to put out some olive branches on the 3rd if we ever want to end the anger though.

Just the thought of one of those danm commie liberals.

          •  I actually think (none)
the swearing diminishes the passion and the disgust; it makes it rather mundane and kind of lazy/cheap. When its used all the time it sort of loses any kind of power or meaning, and is hard to decipher from the day-day annoyances that we also use it to express.
