  •  Both your examples are different... (none)
    ...because both assume INSTANT DEATH.

Look, were we to lose... we'd have DAYS ON WEEKS ON MONTHS to worry about where to go next, cause they'll be nothing to do on November 3rd.

We. Can. Worry. About. Losing. Later.

    Lust respond to this...

What -- exactly -- will worrying NOW solve that won't be solved November 3rd?

Want to beat Bush... it's the LIES, stupid.

    •  No... (4.00)
the point of discussing the "loss" issue is this:

The stakes of a loss this time around creates a dynamic that affects the whole race and any discussion of it.  Heck, it's a dynamic that is the basis of your whole diary.   Your argument is premised on the idea that:

      • losing is unthinkable
      • losing would do irreperable harm to our civil rights, our environment, our world
      • therefore we should brook no talk of losing or worrying about a potential loss now
      • instead we should forge ahead, fight the good fight and worry less because
      • that's what's best for now, for all of us.

All that may be excellent strategy and rhetoric, it is, however, just the flip side of the very same mentality of those who are "worrying" and sussing out polls.  It's all rhetorically based on LOSING.

My point, the stakes ARE huge this time around.  Anything that rallies the cause and focuses our energies on job one is valid and valuable.  For you, JL and many others, that means putting your noses to the grindstone and being busy beavers.  FINE.

But belittling those whose cranial zones ALSO want to discuss their worries, to be critical of our candidate, or who need to rant in the other direction is, imo, a bad ideer.  Insofar as your rant unabashedly advocates for your point of view in a humorous manner...kudos to you.

But, as you have spent mucho energy here defending the purity of your rant against all comers....let me say this:

different strokes, my brother.  But were all in the same boat together, like it or not, and some of us ARE going to be talking about the icebergs.

Fwiw, telling fellow Kossacks to stfph is not my cup of tea.  I think your piece is appreciated for what it is, so, yeah, I laughed.  In many ways you're right on.  But in a free speech democracy...well, ranting about telling folks to shut up is not really something I go for.

      2004's the election, 2005's the prize...let'sTCB!
