I only do this once a week, but I'd like to remind my fellow Kossacks that we have a progressive governor in a deep red state who is young, intelligent, popular and has demonstrated the ability to work across the aisle without sacrificing his progressive principles.

In this round of VP speculation, I'm supporting Feingold. Obama doesn't need him to win Wisconsin, and Feingold may not actually help Obama anywhere in particular, but he's a strong partner to have working for us in an Obama administration.

Don't pick a VP to win, pick a VP to govern. Obama would win with everyone on this list.

and I think Obama / Feingold could be stronger than many think, as a border-state ticket like Truman / Barkley or Clinton / Gore. OTOH, he's single, and I'm on record predicting a "Second Spouse" candidate for each party. So Sen. Feingold, remember, what happens in Vegas doesn't have to stay in Vegas....

      Tax cuts
      Strongly favors death penalty
Three strikes laws -- "tough on crime"
      Parental notification law
Rabid anti-drug reform -- seems to treat all drugs like they are meth

You'd have to show me an awful lot more positive reasons to have that man on the ticket and potentially be the next president.

        1. Taxes - Has consistently said he does not favor tax cuts on those making more than $75,000 a year, and supports increasing inheritance taxes (as well as cigarette and gasoline taxes).
        1. He's pro-death penalty. That's a deal breaker for us now?
        1. On crime, he has supported additional funding for job training for prisoners more than once, and has fought racial profiling.
        1. Abortion - "I am pro-choice because I feel this is a deeply personal choice that the government should not be involved in. I do oppose late-term abortions unless the woman's life is in danger."
        1. You're going to need links on things like "seems to treat all drugs like they are meth", since as far as I can tell, he treats meth like its meth.

Keep in mind he is working with a legislature that is more conservative than you'd find in 45 out of 50 states.

He is also pro-environment, pro-affirmative action, anti-war, and has greatly increased funding for education and healthcare programs in Oklahoma.

He is certainly not to the right of current VP frontrunner Jim Webb.
