We're all justing waiting for that thing that makes Angry John blow in top in front of a camera, that might do it.

As for Strickland -- could be a good choice insofar as it helps deliver Ohio, though I'm not current on how popular he is there.   I choke a bit at that choice, thinking of Strickland nodding his head like a tool behind Hillary's "shame on you, Barack Obama!!" tantrum.

    JOHN McCAIN = George W. Bush's 3rd term.

    •  Yeah, but either Strickland or Rendell... (1+ / 0-)

... would likely deliver a state that gives him a good fallback if his "go West, young man" electoral calculus doesn't work out as well as expected.

Plus, neither one is presidential material so he doesn't have to worry someone with overweening ambition working at cross-purposes in an effort to set up their own shot (and it also means that he can pass the torch to Sebelius or Napolitano in '16... maybe Hillary can give a convention speech that year, if she's still in politics...)

I don't understand why everyone seems to think he'd win PA.

Pennsylvania has a Lt. Governor - Catherine Baker Knoll - who's really old, really kooky, and has a history of making gaffes.  Her office has been fixed with constant turnover, as she frequently fires staff, and its said that family members of hers carry a lot of power in her office.  While she is pouplar with some groups in the state - hence the reason for Rendell wanting her to stay on the ticket - most of the state has nightmares about her becoming governor.

With Rendell on the national ticket, all the Republicans would need to do to win PA is air an ad that says two words: "Governor Knoll."

~Rendell suffers from foot-in-mouth disease.  While this may be "charming" at a state level, it'll be a hinderance on a national ticket.  Think Howard Dean in 2004.

~Rendell (partly stemming from the problem above) was a real jackass in how he campaigned for Clinton during the PA primary.  He'll probably have a strained, at best, relationship with Obama as a result.
