You ask a great question-- why doesn't this story get any coverage?

Maybe because it doesn't fit anywhere into existing narrative frames, such as: no one tells America, or America's rulers, what to do; America is #1; white people rule; American capitalism rules; Republicans are the super-patriots; Republicans are the true Christians; the people you have to watch out for are blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, snotty Europeans, and leftists.

As George Lakoff has pointed out, when facts don't fit into established conceptual frames, the facts will be discarded and the frames retained. The idea that some freaky Korean cult leader has penetrated the GOP and American media to the degree that Moon has, is simply incomprehensible. The information simply bounces off of minds that have no existing framework with which to receive and retain it.

    •  So what frame should we stick it in? (0+ / 0-)

The "the Republican party has lost its soul and will take anybody's money and carry anybody's water to win elections"?

I agree with your point.  This needs a frame.

The only people saying "Stop-loss" isn't a backdoor draft -- are people who aren't affected by it.
