    don't even stop when I'm waiting for several minutes in the crosswalk (in the shoulder, that is-- I'm not that daring). Or start turning right without even glancing to see whether someone's trying to cross.

    Also amazes me how nobody seems to actually test the pedestrian crossing signals around town. I've seen some of them not working at all for half a year, if not longer. And when I've tried to report the broken signals to the city, I've gotten the runaround between two or three different offices; nobody seems to know who's supposed to take care of such things...

    Oh, and don't even get me started on the roads that are designed exclusively for cars, where pedestrian crossings are literally miles apart.

    It really does make one feel like a second-class citizen...
