    Tease me all you want. The folks who wanted to strengthen the levees pre-Katrina got made fun of, too.   Say, how'd that work out? Oh, yeah. Not so well. ;-P

    A closer reading will actually put in perspective lessons from 1918 that most people have never learned. At the same time, the 36K deaths a year from simple seasonal flu go underappraciated.

    So, while around 40% of the population dislikes to consider bad things happening because it's too depressing, someone has to. It's always interesting how many professional disaster managers show up for these diaries. They know the score.
