  •  But her senate seat and her front-runnership (2+ / 0-)

were obviously based on being Bill's wife. Nita Lowey had to step aside for Hillary (who had never been elected to anything) in NY in 2000. And waht term-and-a quarter senator has ever entered a primary campaign as the prohibitve favorite, the way Hillary did? Her front-runnership was based first and foremost on being the wife of the popular ex-president.

It's absurd to think that she would have been anywhere near this nomination if her husband hadn't been president. Her ineptitude at running a campaign, her numerous gaffes, her fatal lack of planning, and her financial mismanagement are all testimony to the fact that she was not ready for prime time.

There's nothing wrong with going into the family business. Neptism isn't always a dirty word. But unfortunately,  I think Hillary's nepotism was more reminiscent of W. Bush's than Bobby Kennedy's.

And to be honest, though Hillary did, in desperation, manage to keep her campaign afloat until the end, this is hardly a point of pride. She made blunt appeals to racism ("hard-working Americans, white Americans"), bragged about nonexistent accomplishments, denigrated the abilities of the new front-runner to be president, pandered shamelessly and irresponsibly for short-term votes (remember the absurd "gas-tax holiday?"), and offered astonshingly hyper-ventilated and hypocritical arguments for seating delegates that she herself had denied seats to a few months ago.

And none of this was done in the service of any discernible principle, like ending a war. The only principle involved was "I am Hillary, dammit."
