  •  Now that it looks like Hillary (7+ / 0-)

will continue to cause trouble, I think Barak should accelerate his V.P. selection process. Get someone besides Hillary on board soon and then we can ignore her. (Hopefully) Maybe she'll regain just an ounce of class and give it up in the next few days, but if not, she needs to be marginalized quickly. Naming a V.P. other than her, I think, would do that nicely.

There is the reality of her delegates. Whatever you think of her, and whatever her lack of statesmanship, that is a power base. It will be a test of Obama's political skills how he deals with this fact on the ground (as they say in the Mideast).

      •  That power base will evaporate. She has a core (1+ / 0-)

support but most of her delegates will abandon her given the chance. Did you hear Mr. Meeks say how he has always been an admirer of Obama? Many of her people are political professionals. Obama now controls the patronage machine. It is reality we all need to pay the rent.

As for her true core of supporters, they really are a disappointed lot. But a show of strength and resolve is just as effective as currying  favor with them. Again its just political reality. People tend to flock to the  winner.

and the hints Boxer was dropping about not being a party to a floor fight at the convention may signal that she's going to join the Unity Parade. And the more supers that jump from her to Obama without reprisals, the rest will feel safe in following suit except for a few hardliners like Stephanie Tubbs-Jones and some others.

    •  Actually best for him to wait (0+ / 0-)

and do a thorough search -- that way (a) the media will move on from Hillary Clinton and onto more interesting topics like what Britney Spears is up to, and (b) his campaign can hint that the Clintons didn't pass the vetting process (in truth all too likely anyway).

    •  It's early days to do that, BUT (0+ / 0-)

His campaign can (and I think they will)  begin to float names, to get discussion going.  And then there will be even less reason for the MSM to obsess over Hillary.
