  •  Slattery is a good democrat? (0+ / 0-)

he's an UBER-Lobbyist from Fred Fielding's old K Street Firm.

I'd love to get that seat and I'd view a cross-eyed 3-toed sloth with down syndrome as a legislative  improvement over Roberts, but "Good Democrat"?

The guy is part of the machine... and one of the slimier more seldomly seen parts at that.

Still.. its Kansas.  Its not like the next Barney Frank is stepping up to make a run at the seat anytime soon.

    •  He's not the only Democrat either... (1+ / 0-)

There is another Democrat vying for an opportunity to knock Roberts out of his seat, and I'm surprised that his name isn't mentioned more by Kossicks...

He was NOT a lobbyist for one of the largest firms in Washington DC (representing people like AT&T and Insurance Companies against the people of New Orleans).

He has NOT been absent from Kansas for the past 14 years.

HE IS LEE JONES. A life-long fighter for working families and all around good polulist.

You should really look at www.leejones.com - you'll be impressed by his surprisingly detailed positions... unlike Slattery, he's not looking to be a BlueDog - he's a TRUE Democrat.

    •  He was crushed in the '94 election (1+ / 0-)

What was he supposed to do? Go back to Topeka and handle divorces & DUIs?
    •  I guess I was referring more to Sebelius, (2+ / 0-)

who herself is more of a moderate, but from the little I ascertained from Slattery's website he's for at least SCHIP, coming home from Iraq, and a new energy policy. If that's the best we can get from a Kansas democrat, I'm fine with that.

I'll freely admit I know nothing about Jim Slattery, but he appears to be better than a Ben Nelson or a Mark Pryor.
