  •  I second that. Hagel is, and will always be a (6+ / 0-)

conservative Republican. It's worth reaching across the aisle to take advantage of his opposition to the war, but having a singular, positive position certainly is sufficient to warrant his inclusion on a Democratic ticket.

but one spot where I could see Hagel doing a lot of good is Sec. Def.  He does have the bona fides to run that place.  I also believe he wouldn't be all that gung ho about throwing our military down another cess pit.

One of my favorite blogs, The Washington Note, has some interesting articles on Hagel in the archives.

      •  Hagel could be a credible Sec. of Defense. (1+ / 0-)

And I should note that my comment above should have said "certainly isn't sufficient".

Kennedy's who have exemplified the spirit of public service, of what you can do for your country and not demanding what your country can do for you.  Joe Kennedy was a crook, and then he was a statesman.  All families have some shady pasts, and in their day, it maybe wasn't so shady, but what was accepted.

This does not mean there aren't families that are nothing but a cancer on our world.  The Bush clan really comes to mind as a great example of that.

I read your original statement as "isn't".  I didn't even notice the typo.  It's the dKosian mind meld thing, I guess.
