It's true. What public school really teaches is cynicism and conformity. It teaches that not many people in government care about us.

I have a friend who came here as a kid knowing only Chinese. He's now had eight years of public school education, and has NEVER been taught the basics of English grammar, diagramming, and how to understand our language properly. He is able to express himself well mostly because he reads a lot.

I, the product of private school education, a kid who was born here and read at an early age and would have had no trouble with grammar anyway, was taught in Catholic school exactly how the English language works.

    Honestly, it's just screwed up.

Sometimes I wonder about whether vouchers would be a good thing. But not like this - not by destroying public education in the guise of making it better, not by ruining the education and possibly the futures of so many kids in the process.

    •  I hope you learned a bit more than in my class (0+ / 0-)

this year, and wish you a pleasant and productive summer.

Those who can, do. Those who can do more, TEACH! If impeachment is off the table, so is democracy
