    now I work from home. That helps. But it also a 20 miles trek to buy food. I don't think a lot of people get this simple fact.

      I grew up in a rural area and now live in NY.  We need to help people who cannot use mass transit by increasing fuel efficiency etc; but also we need to build more mass transit and encourage all of those who can use it to do so.

        project from the southern suburbs of Albuquerque up into Santa Fe, about 100 miles of track.  Runs on the Atcheson Topeka and Santa Fe lines for much of the distance, with shiny new commuter stations.  

        He's taken a lot of mockery for it - in-state it's seen as a boondoggle sure to be underutilized.  But I disagree.  I'll be taking a LOT more Santa Fe nightlife once I don't have to drive back yawning at 1:00 am. with maniacs going 85 mph all around me.
