  •  Governor, thank you, BUT: (0+ / 0-)

I'd like to see support for transit from the state government. A plug-in SUV isn't that big of a greenhouse gas reduction compared to expanding light rail, or investing in capital upgrades to our already largely state funded Amtrak Cascades service.

I feel like your attitude here is entirely in the realm of the automobile, when the largest leaps in transportation emissions reductions can be had by harnessing our cheap hydroelectric power for rail transit.

Please speak about what we're already doing with Sound Transit, and help us, instead of ignoring mass transit!

Look at Dino Rossi if you want to see somebody who only thinks about cars.

He wants to cut funding for Sound Transit and use the money to build more roads. If that wasn't bad enough, he plans to open up HOV lanes for single occupancy vehicles during certain hours, which will cause less people to car pool and take mass transit.

      •  I don't support him, don't worry. (0+ / 0-)

But his suggestions regarding Sound Transit were unconstitutional, and he dropped them immediately.

I don't know if you're aware, but Gregoire has transit detractor John Stanton on a commission with Norm Rice to do similar to Sound Transit. She also worked to combine last year's transit package vote with a large road expansion package, definitely contributing to its failure. The Sierra Club wouldn't even get behind it because it built lots of new highway lanes.

I have a hard time supporting the Governor when she has already hurt transit expansion in Puget Sound. On most issues, she's great, but she hasn't done a thing to help us build infrastructure we're 40 years behind on.

I was sending some links out to friends that thought Rossi "sounded okay" and came across this doozy from Rossi's Idea Man Lou Guzzo on discrimination.

True desegregation of races must begin in the neighborhoods is an issue and it almost makes sense until you read:

"On several occasions, I have written columns or made speeches suggesting that the residents of "white" communities should receive property-tax reductions if they permit minorities to buy homes in their midst. Why not? It’s a policy that might reverse our present "whites only" abomination and start us off on the road to a truly desegregated America."

        Wow, I mean just wow.
