    the decision is clearly not sweeping - yet despite that 4 justices are so willing to defer to things like the idea of the unitary executive and lack of limitation of executive authority that they are willing to abandon basic principles that predate the Constitution.  

    It seems to me that a political point can be made of this -  that McCain is willing to appoint justices willing to abandon basic constitutional principles in favor of a radical - and very dangerous - ideology.

      SCOTUS appointees would be that issue.  Controversy over most other issues that are important to other people would almost always come back to the Supremes. It's scary to think that this Court was so close to becoming nothing more than the final rubber stamp to the Neo-Con ideology.  Lets just be thankful no one else had to resign for health issues or decided to retire during Georgie's term in office.
