        •  what does the UK (0+ / 0-)

have to do with us?  They have much more expansive terrorism laws.  Remember the IRA?  We, thankfully, have not had to deal with bombs going of in streets on a semi-regular basis within recent memory.

We always look to the continent for "liberal values," but most of those countries have way tougher terrorism laws than we do.

Is that not enough? What an odd comment! They're role in the WoT has everything to do with us.

            •  I cant see how you think (0+ / 0-)

that the UK has anything to do with domestic laws governing detaining "enemy combatants" in the so-called war on terror.

My "odd comment" was merely to call attention to the idea that comparing Bush's illegal mishandling of domestic terrorism laws to those over in Europe is rather "odd" in itself.  If you don't understand that, you should look at the rather severe anti-terrorism laws over there.  And as far as I know, it's a rare day when the Sup. Ct. decides to site a modern English law  when justifying anything.

They simply do not affect our laws.  that was the point.
