and in this case, MissLaura is spot on with her questions.

Among the many "safe" Republican seats, there will be a handful of Democratic Challengers who force the race to a more competitive status.  Some will be expected. Some will be a surprise.

The questions raised need to be answered by every campaign. Asking them now is helpful. Now there is still time for a longshot campaign to organize and build energy. The metrics you cite are as viable as any other. Each race is different, but the questions that the DCCC would ask of any candidate are a baseline. In June it is helpful to ask every longshot campaign to have a plan and to be able to explain it.

but I still think it's something you do in private, the answers to those questions, that is.

You rise well above the kool kids. Your work on the Mariana Islands is terrific. The reason is that you do incomparable research.  You know what the hell you are talking about and never write 'till you have it nailed.

Miss Laura comes waltzing in with an air of knowing what is going in on the ground in races all across this country. She doesn't.  She never researches these races.

She doesn't offer encouragement to those who are trying to make a change, either. She comes across to those out-lying campaigns as Rahm-lite.
