  •  Couldn't Feingold just put a hold? (4+ / 0-)

(As many Republicans have done with stuff they didn't like.)

It just has to be held off until after the election.

Are they thinking that not passing Protect AT&TFISA is a political liability? (same as they thought opposing Iraq warfiasco was a liability in 2006 - NOT!)

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

    •  If it were that simple (0+ / 0-)

      it'd be that simple.

Holds only hold if the Majority Leader respects them.

McCain: The best they could come up with.

      •  And the Senate has already passed it... (0+ / 0-)

So can a conference markup be anonymously held?

        •  As of right now this won't be a conference report (0+ / 0-)

Although both House and Senate passed different versions of PAA-extension legislation, they didn't vote to send this to a conference committee.

Procedurally if this comes back to life, it likely will be either a brand-new bill (originating either the house or senate), or the House will take up and amend the Senate version and ship the version as so amended back to the Senate.

(Alternatively, I think the Senate could take up the House-passed bill, amend it and send it back to the House for final passage, but that may present some additional procedural complications as the House-passed bill is already an amendment of the Senate-passed bill.)
