  •  Tone-deaf (0+ / 0-)

These people are tone-deaf when it comes to politics. They have no moral compass to guide them when it comes to issues like freedom or privacy.

And what makes them think that Congress can compromise on this? What makes them think Congress has any say in the matter? This is a Constitutional issue. The telcos aided the Bush Administration in breaking the Fourth Amendment. They can't go to anyone to get a pass on it. They violated the rights of the American people, who might for give them but can't give them absolution on it.

They ought to be paying for this, and the fine ought to be enough to make them want to be sure that they never hook up our electronic communication to anyone in the government again without a warrant from the judicial branch.

Anyone who would "compromise" away that penalty should not be sitting in Congress. And Hoyer should resign for considering a deal.
