  •  I just remembered that McCain did adopt a (0+ / 0-)

minority child. Not sure if the boy is Latino or black. That may militate in his favor with some.

Does anyone remember the details of that? I think in the primaries other Repugs floated the rumor he fathered a black "love child," when in fact it was his adopted son.

    •  Hard to accuse McCain of "racism" if he has an (0+ / 0-)

adopted black son. Real racists don't adopt African Americans as their sons.

Remember, McCain does not need a huge chunk of the Hispanic vote, just shave a little off Obama's, in order to win.

Anyone who thinks this election will be a landslide for Obama is crazy. The poll numbers when used for an AA candidate always tend to be skewered higher.

Race will be a factor and don't discount that many whites who would tell a pollster they will vote for Obama will pull the lever for McCain at the last second.

I still think Obama's victory is eminently possible, but it will not be as easy as many here tend to think based on the polls. From now to November is an eternity; literally anything can happen and probably will. Can you say Swift Boat?

    •  He has a Bangladeshi daughter (0+ / 0-)

The SC primary was the one where the ugly rumors were floated around, and the rumors were spread by the Bush campaign.
