  •  That's a bit iffy. (0+ / 0-)

McCain and GOP forming outside public finance 527's to get around public finance laws.

McCain working with same 527's who dissed his and Kerry's military service.

    Impossible. That's downright illegal.

One, McCain wouldn't have anything to do with it personally...or even a person or two removed. Or a pesron on both campaigns.

As for your second point. It's pollyticks. Again, no PACs are attacking Obama right now.

As for point number five...that's makes no sense. McCain has no control over what Supreme Court judges will vote. That's like condeming a Democratic Senator for voting for Ginsburg on SCOTUS when she issued a stay in Florida in 2000. (Or maybe she didn't. She dissented in the major ruling. But you get the point.)

McCain's wife and his finaces are separate, right?

Didn't Kerry and Theresa have different finances? Didn't we freaking defend that?

Is there any degree of fairness here?

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm not 1/1000000000 of excited for Obama as I was before. :: shrug :: He'll win, but I'm not jumping up and down. I'm more jazzed about local races ATM.

It's shit like this and politicians like this.

    •  GOP "Victory Committee" 527's totally "legal" (0+ / 0-)

they've been used by every GOP presidential campaign since passage of McCain-Feingold with the express purpose of getting around campaign finance reform.

The idea they are not coordinated is a total fiction.

Ironically it was Bush's 527's that were calling McCain a "broken man", "psychologically unfit" to be president, a "Manchurian candidate, brainwashed by North Vietnamese".

McCain is now employing those same 527 backers to attack Obama.

So Obama was faced with McCain using GOP Victory Committee's unlimited private funding to attack Obama while Democrats would be limited to $80M of public finance.

      •  Coordinating between 527s and (0+ / 0-)

Candidate PACs and 527s (as we say them) aren't the same thing.

Candidates aren't affilliated with 527s because they'd get sued and because they're tied down by $ laws. Not to mention it's against federal law. Campaigns have to be sticklers about this crap, down to county central committees.

McCain is now employing those same 527 backers to attack Obama.

        McCain isn't employing anything.

        Please do your homework.

So Obama was faced with McCain using GOP Victory Committee's unlimited private funding to attack Obama while Democrats would be limited to $80M of public finance.

        1. The Victory Committee IS limited. Individulas can contribute up to 70k.

McCain would get 2,300, the GOP gets a chunk, and about $10k goes to battleground states.

McCain is still in the GOP primary.

        2) Democrats have a smiliar Joint Committee with Obama, the Obama Victory Fund.

"Coordinated" = we're Republicans or "coordinated" = we're on the same payroll?

The McCain Victory Fund is totally legal and Dems have the same thing. shrug It helps the RNC in satewide and House races as well.

        •  GOP 527's totally coordinated with McW campaign. (0+ / 0-)

As they were with Bush campaign in 2004 and in Congressional campaigns in 2006.

If you research it, you'll find Bush re-election campaign chair and Bush campaign lawyer both had to resign as they were...ta da....working for GOP 527's.

The denial of co-ordination is one of the hypocrisies of the current campaign finance system. One of the loopholes the McW/GOP campaign stated it would exploit to the fullest to make up for McW's inabilty to raise money.
