If we cannot elect this man, we don't deserve him.

and staying in the Democratic party and fighting to make it a better party? Change is not going to happen quickly or easily. Obama has been pretty clear about that. We have been negligent in holding our elected representatives accountable. he has to get elected first and then we have to elect better representatives to reflect our values. The Republicans hae been doing this for a very long time. We Democrats have a lot of catching up to do. Please stay.

Exactly what will they be less able to do when rescinding their Democratic Party membership that they're better able to do with the membership?

There's nothing in it for a member of a Party, except maybe a patronage job if your local district is really corrupt (and keeps the other Party members out of them). Or maybe some satisfaction of "being on the team".

This team sells us out at the slightest whiff in the breeze.

But it gets the satisfaction, safety and fundraising advantage of having lots and lots of members. Who are there to get screwed. It's not like any other Party membership offers more benefit, but that's why reregistering independent is the most sensible. Because as independent you can fight the Democratic Party to change as well as can any registered Democrat. But you don't have the blood on your hands that your membership card entitles you to do.

Oh, and "lots of catching up to do" doesn't cut it anymore. The Democratic Party has had the majority for over a year and a half - what's so different? Explain to me that "your" majority can't leave FISA telco amnesty out of the law. Explain why it's sending yet another blank Iraq War check to Bush more than Republicans used to send - just like every other time they've had the choice.

Just don't tell me they're "keeping their powder dry". That's the pack of lies that didn't convince me 2001-2006, either.

You know you're wrong when you start arguing like a Republican.
