It just gets worse and worse and worse and worse. These asshats just robbed me of what little hope I have had the democracy was beginning to show signs of rebirth. Instead, the Republicans are calling the shots as the minority party and the Democrats are giving away our rights and money as fast as they can.

Look this is bad, I agree, but we've got a lame duck adminstration with approval ratings in the toilet and a congress with years of very bad habits to unlearn.

This might be a significant battle, but by no means is it the entire war, some sense of proportion, please. If Obama loses, then what happens to the Supreme Court -- think of the Habeas Corpus decision. Again, a little proportion here, folks, okay?

We have a lame duck president that is extremely unpopular. We have a Democratic majority in both the House and Senate. We have a rock star candidate for president running against a grumpy coot. We have all the cards, so why are we giving ground on warrantless wiretaps, telecom amnesty, banning torture, everything Bush wants in Iraq, windfall profit taxes and tax incentives for the oil companies, etc... If Obama loses, everything is finished - that is how close to the edge we are. I agree. Let's talk proportion. We are on the brink. It is not a comfortable place to be. You know, if the gutless, spineless wonders in the House had any sense, they would be sending Bush bills he would veto. The American people are not fans of the Telecom companies, government snooping, and so on. Let Bush explain why he is against a ban on torture. It would make great grist for trying him as a war criminal. Let Bush explain why he needs amnesty for the Telecoms.
