... assuming they don't dump him as the nominee

No one is particularly looking forward to McCain's convention speech.  Least of all Republicans!

I think it was 92, but there was a huge difference in post convention 'bumps' between Clinton and George I.

"The Clinton campaign received the biggest convention "bounce" in history[8] which brought him from 25 percent in the spring behind Bush and Perot up to 55 percent to Bush's 31 percent"

"After President Bush accepted his renomination, his campaign saw a small bounce in the polls, but this was short lived, as Clinton maintained his lead[11]"

      It'll remind people that he's a Republican.

I'm really hoping Pres. G.w. Bush can stop by. Then Sen. McCain might not even get a bounce at all.

      •  Can we hope for a long speech of praise by GWB? (1+ / 0-)

If Bush extolls McCain as a great Republican and a great American, that might be worth 2 or 3% in the polls for Obama right there....

I'm also hoping for speeches by DeLay, Gringrich, Cheney and Scooter Libby. And maybe they'll let Abramoff out on bail to praise his ol' buddy.

I don't think Scottie McClellan will be invited to the party, though....

...cause otherwise, where will I find my jello and cottage cheese?
