  •  I agree w/those predictions, & if the dems (0+ / 0-)

    do well, they should be very happy, but not smug.

    A little historical perspective, LBJ & the dems won in a landslide in '64 & the pundits wondered if the reps could ever recover. hmm, it took the reps (4) years to recover w/nixon winning in '68. Of course a few things happened in between, the Civil Rights acts giving the South to the reps for several generations & the Vietnam War escalated, RFK assassinated & riots at the Chicago convention, etc.

    & then nixon won in a landslide in '72 & again, the pundits wondered if the dems could ever recover. After Watergate, Carter barely won in '76.

    & so it goes, politics & corruption has been around since the beginning of time & will stay with us 'til the end of time ...

    One can hope Obama will be as great as Jefferson, Lincoln & FDR, but I will be happy if he is a very good president, who doesn't compromise his priciples depending on whether polls are up or down.
