  •  The Fourth Amendment (12+ / 0-)

has been getting pounded for decades, since the beginning of the drug war. All of the tools of the war on drugs--paramilitary SWAT teams kicking in doors in the middle of the night, highway check lanes, random traffic stops, urine testing, all have led to the weakening of this basic right.

Of course, no one listened when it was just a bunch of dirty hippies who wanted to smoke some weed...

What's the difference between Vietnam and Iraq? Bush knew how to get out of Vietnam.

    •  4th amendment eroded (5+ / 0-)

in other areas, especially in civil law, and especially in workplace law. The dissent in Marshall v. Barlow pointed out that by interpreting the 4th amendment in the result-oriented way they did there, would inevitably lead to a weakened 4th amendment.'

The conservative majority was not impressed. . . . or maybe they were. Maybe they wanted a weak 4th amendment that would allow spying at will.

Now it's just dirty terrorists. Think the American people are listening now? Nah. They're not doing anything wrong. What do they have to worry about?

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
