    if you consider that the purpose of teaching a discipline is to produce more teachers of the discipline, of course. It's when the discipline actually turns out to have applications outside the classroom that you begin to wonder whether the purpose of teaching is to make them inapplicable.

    As to your point about "po-mo anti-epistemology" I think you're falling into your own trap if you imagine that "po-mo" is "anti-epistemology" in general, as opposed to critiquing certain epistemologies as historically constructed.

      w/ indicia of reliability.  I don't think it's a stretch to consider po-mo epistemology an anti-epistemology, and I don't think they'd really disagree.
