    humane treatment of both human and non-human creatures?  I think the author of your sig line would agree both are to be considered.

      we should be concerned about them both but I'm just saying priorities are off when people are more sympathetic to animals than their fellow humans.   For instance more money is spent to rescue animals than on homelessness.  Why is it we look at the dog with sympathy and the human with ambivalence?

      I do think the patriotic thing to do is to critique my country. How else do you make a country better but by pointing out its flaws? Bill Maher
