  •  I was hired at DOJ through this program (9+ / 0-)

    in 1988, at the end of the Reagan era.  Dick Thornburgh was the AG (and would be for Bush I).  No one ever asked me about my political leanings, and I would have been shocked if they had.  These were not bleeding hearts, and I disagreed with Thornburgh on plenty, but I never thought he wasn't professional.  It was a great program, and I never thought of it as corruptable.  I also thought all the Federalists I knew in law school were pudgy losers who tried to hard to hit on girls they could never get.  Guess they got their revenge.

    Forget about the pursuit of happiness; that way lies grief. Concentrate on the happiness of pursuit.
