I still see enormous support for the Dobson view in many mega churches in the midwest and lots of evangelical & fundy ones in the south.

I'm not sure if the changes that Wallis is talking about are going to be reflected in lessened support for the GOP let alone increased evangelical support for Democrats.

The "will not compromise" issue for a lot of these people, rational or not, is abortion.  And as long as the GOP keeps the "Human Life amendment" in it's platform, it has their vote.  As long as the Democrats support Roe V Wade, they can not get their votes.  These are absolutist, single issue voters.  They may be sane or nuts on other issues, but many seem convinced that to compromise on abortion is tantamount to utter capitulation on morality.

Keep in mind Kel-ee-FOHN-yuh when it comes to megachurches. My home state has its share of them, not to mention its share of Christofascists. The Central Valley, Orange and San Diego Counties come to mind. There's a lot of support for Dobson in SoCal.

Don't blame me. I voted for Kodos.
