    humility is 100% correct. I bet the euro allies are secretly looking for reasons to support the U.S. and unify around something. Humility on Bush's part would provide that entry point.

    Bush's previous clumbsy diplomatic failures has set up the dynamic that the world's expectations are very low for him. Anything he does that is sensible will be greeted warmly.

    Of course, Bush has never taken this tact before. Will he (they) be smart enough to seize this opportunity?

      I doubt it.  Why would they be so desperate to unify around the US when we've been treating them like crap.  Saddam's gone, but no one in the rest of the world is going to look on us any more magnanimously because of it.
