from Sodablue: Was it a smear?  Did you repeat it in an effort to discredit Dean? Did Howard Dean mean something else by the statement? Since the original was part of a several sentence response that included conditional explanation, I think it is safe to say he meant more than the single attribution you assert. Was it taken out of context? Since the orignal statement was part of a longer comment AND since it was now offered by you in relation to a much more recent event about which Dean has himself offered new and contextually contemporaneous words, then yes. Grossly so. I don't see it.  Instead, what I see is a large number of Dean supporters who are afraid of the words that their candidate has uttered.? There is a difference about being afraid of statements and being indignant be mistaken use of said statements. Don't pretend to say you simply wanted to make sure people knew what Howard Dean had to say about today's news. You wanted people to see a fraction of a statement made on a different set of details and you wanted them to attach that fraction, as though it was complete, to today's events. And in that association, you wanted people to think substantially less of Dr. Dean. It's demogoguery and repugnant, in the original, non-partisan meaning of the term.

I want people to be aware of Dean's attitude towards Saddam Hussein.  Yep, he's hired a speech writer, and his campaign is handling him better, resulting in a far better response today.

But we still have that original statement showing his complete lack of sympathy and understanding for the plight on the Iraqi people which was Saddam.

It's demogoguery and repugnant, in the original, non-partisan meaning of the term.

Then I am no different than Dean supporters who keep smearing the other candidates.

Yet for this, I am censored, while people like Phil S are modded up for their smears.

I'm just pointing out the severe bias that goes on at this site.  I don't do it for you, I do it for all the people who read, don't post and may not be aware of it.

FYI: dKos censors posts critical of Howard Dean by deleting them.
