    The popular vote is not really accurate, since 6 states (including New York!) didn't have a popular vote, however Jackson did get a plurality of electoral votes as well, 38%-32%.  He lost because the "fourth-man-out," Henry Clay, got his supporters to back Adams in the House of Representatives in exchange for an appointment as Secretary of State.
