or FDR's.  I know hindsight is 20/20.  I'm just pointing out that many of these "purity trolls" would not have lived up to some of our standards.

The definition of insanity is voting the same way and expecting a different result. I'm talking to you FL,OH, KY, WV!

For discarding habeas corpus or interring the Americans of Japanese ancestry. You are repeating comparisons made by others here today, so let me finally respond to them, by responding to you.

Lincoln was facing a horrible civil war. The southern army was marching through the North and threatening Washington, D.C. There were large networks of Southern sympathizers and spies operating in the North and border states. The REAL WORLD threats to "national security" dwarfed what the US is currently facing. He suspended habeas corpus, WITH THE CONSENT OF CONGRESS, under very different conditions than those affecting Obama's choices today.

Lincoln was concerned about the threat to the existence of the United States when he adopted his policies. Obama is worried, even according to the testimony of his apologists on this board, with avoiding some Republican attack ads painting him as "soft" on national security.

      You get the difference?

      •  Actually I don't even know if Obama is "worried" (2+ / 0-)

I don't claim to be able to read minds.   I do know that none of the people quoted would have been able to live up to our standards.

I also know that Obama has access to information that we don't.  Point blank that's the truth.  I also know that we have domestic terrorist in this country (like Tim McVeigh).

        Governing is a fine line.
