  •  It's always nice to have someone (12+ / 0-)

tell me what I can and cannot bring up as qualifications to be leader of the free world.

"Obama has made it incredibly clear that he will not endorse,
    even among his supporters"

    I don't care.
    It will never stop me.

correctly, you may find this diary informative.

On the other hand, if I've misunderstood, please accept my apology.

"I guess my question is why, given all the vast numbers of things that we've got to work on, that that would be a top priority of mine?" he said. "I think that, you know, right now we're here to talk about how we can make sure that kids in Zanesville and across Ohio get the kind of support that they need and communities that are impoverished can start to rebuild. I'm happy to have all sorts of conversations about how we deal with Iraq and what happens with Iran, but the fact that somebody on a cable show or on a news show like Gen. Clark said something that was inartful about Sen. McCain I don’t think is probably the thing that is keeping Ohioans up at night."

This is what I mean. With all the other issues we can use to show McCain is unqualified  why would we stir up patriotism even indirectly.
in my opinion it is an incindiary issue we should leave alone.

i mean it's not like we have other choices. Nader?
      Obama or McCain
You don't think Barack is fooling around with the center because we have nowhere else to go, do you?
I would hate to think that but it's a possibility.

Surely you know McCain is almost incoherent; he mispeaks almost every day.
There are 20 or 30 other reasons he isnt qualified to be leader of the free world  so why pick on the one area where he can benefit from our criticisms??

      •  Obama is not fooling around with the center (4+ / 0-)

He's pandering to the far right (i.e. he is proposing renewing Bush's faith-based charities for the reichwingnuts).  As a constitutional scholar, I didn't expect him to violate the First Amendment.

He's said he'll vote for the latest FISA fiasco, that he'd prefer it didn't have the retroactive immunity, but if that isn't removed he'll vote for it anyway.  As a constitutional scholar, I didn't expect him to violate the Fourth Amendment.

He doesn't favor impeachment.  As a senator, I didn't expect him to violate his oath of office to the Constitution.

After eight long, bloody years and Congress Critters who have done nothing but cater to the corporations and Georgie and Dickie and the 'PubliCons, I was hoping I'd get to vote for someone who was willing to stand up to the reichwingnuts and the Republican slime machine for a change.  I was hoping I could vote for someone who would abide by his oath of office to the Constitution.

Obama was never my first choice because he didn't favor impeachment, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils.

Reading all the posts that keep patronizingly telling people to shush up and fall into lock step and vote for Obama just pisses off people like me who are far too old to be told to act like a Stepford Wife.  That's what a Republican would do.
