  •  I'd be very rich if I had a dime for every time (4+ / 0-)

I've heard some dummy use that: "I haven't done anything wrong! I don't have anything to fear!"

Even gotten into some "spirited debates" on the subject! Level of ignorance out there is appalling.

Observe a mention of CONSTITUTION causes many to back away from me. What's up with that?!

    •  there are some things people want to keep private (4+ / 0-)

      that are not illegal:

      medical information.

      personal financial information.

      family secrets.

      sexual details.

so even if you have "done nothing wrong" you should still want a certain level of privacy in your life.

it amazes me how faux libertarians who are usually all up in arms about "keep the government off my back" don't seem to care about keeping the government out of their private life.

Politics is like driving. To go backward, put it in R. To go forward, put it in D.

won't be the worst of it.  Consider how everyone will feel when, mysteriously, the corporations get hold of the information.

(as it turns out) said the same thing?  Yet they were imprisoned with no access to justice.

If the foot-dragging courts had not finally shown some spine in forcing regard for the law regarding Gitmo detainees, the lawless inhabitants of the Halls of Power would -- make no mistake -- have trotted out the same techniques on the citizenry.  They certainly threatened to.

They burn our children in their wars and grow rich beyond the dreams of avarice.
