  •  Hey - I wanted Dennis K! (7+ / 0-)

Now there's a candidate who would stand up for the Constitution.  He was right on the war too.

Too bad he doesn't know how to campaign or how to run a campaign, though he is right on all the major issues and standing up for the Constitution.

There was that moment on the house floor not too long ago when he made his speech referencing Benjamin Franklin's timeless adage("Those who would give up their liberty for security deserve neither"), before Nancy Pelosi gave her fear mongering George Bush speech about terrorism, made me really wish someone like DK could be a viable candidate.

Without real campaign finance reforms and real oversight and regulation over media conglomerations, that will never happen, unfortunately.

      •  I think there are a lot of people (6+ / 0-)

afraid of giving Dennis K too much power.  The Military Industrial Complex would not be too happy with a Department of Peace.

Dennis has a nice plan for not-for-profit healthcare... guaranteed to piss off the insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical corporations.

Military Industrial Complex, yes, because his plan was to bring ALL the troops home, which would piss off oil and mercenary corporations.

I notice Dennis was the only Rep who abided by his oath of office and had the courage to research (likely with his staff) and write and present TWO impeachment resolutions, one against Cheney, one against Bush.  The impeachment paperwork is all done.  All the House has to do is bring either one to the floor of the House.

Before Dennis stopped campaigning he was the only one who had sound bytes that actually said anything.  He won the ABC poll after that "debate" and that didn't get any publicity.  What he did have to say made sense to those with ears enough to listen.  Corporate Lamestream Media started the meme about "electability" and his short stature and that "opinion" was adopted by bloggers who were not willing to read and analyze anything he said.

I would have disagreed with creating another new department of peace, however; in theory, the war department was supposed to keep the peace; think that became the Pentagon later.  We don't need any more new governmental departments and I'd love to see the Dept. of "Homeland" Security disbanded and back to the separate departments it was, with the provisio that the law enforcement departments have a free exchange of information so they can cooperate to catch those in organized crime and don't duplicate each other's efforts.  Most everything else I agreed with Kucinich about, especially Impeachment, which always was, and still is, my #1 issue.  I want justice for those who were killed or maimed for life because of the illegal, unjustified, immoral, unethical, and dishonorable war/occupation based on lies for oil in Iraq and the torture sanctioned by Georgie and Dickie, so after impeachment I'd like to see them sent to The Hague to be tried for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
