  •  Risch's fundraising - starts at home (6+ / 0-)

Risch has put in $380,000 of his own money to pad his CoH for the last FEC quarter.  The Supreme Court gave this mega-millionaire a break the other day by striking down the Millionaire's Amendment.  There's more behind that $380,000.  He gave his campaign in '02 $350,000 and still carries it as a debt.  There's a pattern here:  be a self-funder, buy the media, release the direct mail, and don't have any voter contact.  That may have worked before....but not in '08.  I have seen no evidence of Idaho fundraising in June by Risch either by direct mail or events.  He was not seen in Idaho in June.  That suggests that he scoured the country looking for money.  Exxon and Chevron have already obliged.

life? I'm being fascetious, but it seems like he's still a complete stranger to north Idaho and I'd be surprised if he could find CDA on a map...

I think you're right.  When he was governor and had the state plane he would point the state plane north occasionally but otherwise he has shown little interest in life outside of Boise.  His travel records at lieutenant governor show he is tethered to Boise.  Amazingly, his activity as a candidate for the US Senate is unremarkable in terms of his interest to reach out beyond the statehouse.  If you've got a PAC check Risch is willing to meet.  Otherwise go to the end of the line.
