  •  But the historical Fascists were pro-military! (2+ / 0-)

Well, at least the Germans were. The thought of impairing the combat ability of their own soldiers to increase their profits never entered their minds. And might have led to the profiteers receiving a personal introduction to the Gestapo, & a tour of the less pleasant parts of the German penal system.

And while Italian rule of Ethiopia was riddled with corruption & bureaucracy, these were not at the detriment of their own occupying troops -- & the Italian occupiers never faced the same level of resistance that US troops face in Iraq. The Italians even made significant improvements in the country's infrastructure -- although major portions were later destroyed by the British (but that's another story).

Honestly, comparing these cynical & corrupt types to the Fascists. Waging war was something they tried to do right -- & to win. These folks treat the military like they treat the rest of the government: as a way to line their pockets first, to advocate their partisan goals second, & the matter of actually accomplish something tangible is nowhere on their list.

    •  Good historical point... (0+ / 0-)

I meant the support for various forms of torture that each and every Republican candidate espoused during the primaries. McCain was against it before he became for it.

      •  Fascist is a very specific term. (0+ / 0-)

"A governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition, etc., and regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism."

While you may be right about the racism, this is not actually a strong government that can regiment industry. Bush is weakening government ability to control industry, allowing it to run rampant. He does not seem to be an absolute dictator; rather, he's a patsy sort of like the guy in the asylum who eats flies in the book Dracula.

I don't think we have a term for this. If I could coin one, I would call him a Vampire Sympathizer. I would arrest the Halliburton/KBR crowd for vampirism, drive stakes through their hearts and cut off their heads and stuff garlic in their mouths.

Also, while this batch wants to start wars left and right, I couldn't call their creed "nationalism." Other than wearing flag lapel pins, they exhibit no signs of national awareness. They appear to be degenerate monarchists. Very possibly, they are the result of years worth of inbreeding.

"Big boss ain't so big, just tall, that's all." And McCain is the boss!
