  •  I'm telling ya (2+ / 0-)

Former Clinton supporter Mike Easley from NC is the head fake those crazy Obama kids are looking for in the South.

No signature this cycle is as important as electing Larry Kissell to Congress.

    •  Perhaps Easley, perhaps someone else (3+ / 0-)

I bet the pick will be no one on this list.   And I bet it will be someone not from Washington.

But whomever it is, we'll probably know about it at least a week before the convention.  As tight-lipped as the Obama campaign is now, they won't repeat George H. Bush's mistake of waiting until the convention to announce Quayle.  (Needless to say, they wouldn't make the mistake of picking someone like Quayle, either.)

As I said in my diary. Watch out for Governor Freudenthal.

        Obama/Casey, my personal dream ticket.

      •  Easley has a worse chance than me (0+ / 0-)

and deservedly so. He rode Hunt's success into office and outside Carolina would play like Willie Nelson covering Led Zepplin. Not to be cruel here but that is the truth .... not "my" truth but "the" truth.

But what I wanted to really comment on is the idea that Obama will hold his pick until right before the election .... MISTAKE if he has the right poick or a solid pick. McCain picks following Obama. Why delay? Using Edwards as an example, Obama might be able to get Edwards hammering away in Michigan, Ohio, Pa, etc. on economic issues and striking populist themes while Obama hammers away on foreign polcy etc. The right pick helps define Obama and assures those of us who are uncertain. I think it is possible that Obama could get a surge in the polls ..... he should be miles ahead anyway. A huge lead and McCain will run into fund raising issues - business acks winners. The democratic convention is going to be quite different anyway and the faked excitement of naming the VP is really not needed. And it keeps in tune with the winning theme, CHANGE.
